George Weah, the only African player to win Ballon d’Or wins Liberia’s presidential election

The only African player to win Ballon d’Or, George Tawlon Manneh Oppong Ousman Weah, has won Liberia’s Presidential election.

The retired professional footballer turned politician succeeds President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, in a contest that completes the country’s first democratic transition of power in more than 70 years.
